Book Review – Lord Brocktree

Lord Brocktree by Brian Jacques is set in medi-evil times. The main character Lord Brocktree is sent on an epic quest filled with adventure, mystery, humour and action. Will Lord Brocktree prevail or will he be struck down? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

I am a person who likes reading books with action and adventure. This book has all of that and more. It will really get thinking about what’s going to happen next. There are many twists and turns that will make you nearly jump out of your seat. This book also has lots of different little side stories that all eventually run into the same big story or plot and that for me is great because you get all sides of the story.

This book has lots of descriptive detail like lots of adjectives and similes. It really helps you get a mental image of what is happening in the book. This book just makes me want to keep on reading. Brian Jacques uses lots of speech and I really like that because I know what the characters are thinking.

I would definitely recommend this book if u like adventure, mystery, humour and action, a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, than this book is definitely for you.

Graduation Committee Application

Some of the reasons why I would be a great part of the committee is because I am organised, I always finish my homework and class work on time, if I need something in a hurry like a book for another subject I can easily get it out because I keep a clean, neat, organised desk and tray. Another reason for selecting me would be because of the way I manage my time. I have a very busy schedule in my week; I have to balance out my time between school work and my other extracurricular activities. But I always spend the appropriate amount of time on each to insure that I do not fall behind and I always manage to get my school work done and have time for my other activities. The last reason is that I am very open to lots of new and fresh ideas, even if the idea doesn’t quite work out, it has still made a contribution to the big picture. Everyone has the right to share there ideas and not be put down for it.

So they are the reasons why I would make a great person to have on the committee.

Impressionistic Art!

Impressionistic Art uses colour, lines and shapes to express the artists thoughts, feelings & ideas.

I called my art piece Ocean Seaweed because the shapes and colours reflect a piece of seaweed blowing in an ocean current. It looks like a peaceful picture. The colours I chosewere a light green and blue to represent the seaweed and water. I am happy with my paintingbecause i think i used the right colours to make it stand out.

Book Reflection

During our Literacy session today we had to choose a character from the book we are reading to be our friend. At the moment I am reading Lord Brocktree and this is my response to the question ‘Which character would you like as a friend and why?’

If I was to choose one character to be my friend from the book I am reading, I would choose Dotti. One of the reasons I would choose her is because she is really funny. Dotti is really energetic and she is always making jokes, even when she is not trying to be funny she is. Another reason for choosing her as a friend would be because she really likes talking. She can always brighten up a dark situation and I think that’s a great quality for a friend to have. Dotti is really intelligent and cunning so if we were ever in a bad situation we could think of a way to get out of that situation.

So they are the reasons why I would choose Dotti as a friend.

Inquiry Unit For Term 3

This term our Inquiry unit or Inquiry or Inquiry Question is called Why is the world coming to Adelaide? I think this Inquiry Unit focuses on all the the different  cultures an people coming to Adelaide. But we also learned that it is not just WHO is coming to Adelaide, like tourists and famous people but WHAT is coming to Adelaide, like animals and plants being smuggled in and stuff like that. We have only just begun this Inquiry Unit but we will learn alot more about this topic as the term goes on.

Personal Research Project

This term we have started to do our Personal Research Projects (PRP). This means that that we get do research what we want. I have decided to do mine on Alaska because I think Alaska is an really interesting place. I do not know much about Alaska but i hope to gain lots of knowledge through researching it. I am going to conduct my presentation with power point because i now how to use the program and stuff like that. I am really looking forward to doing my PRP because I have never done one before.

Swimming Lessons

All of this week we have been having swimming lessons at Thebarton Aquatic Center. We leave school at about 9:00am and get there about 9:10am, after we get changed and ready we got splitt up into groups according to our abbility. Through-out all this week we have been doing different a ctivities like Water-Polo, Underwater-Hockey, Snorkelling and much much more. (we even got to simulate a Rip, like the ones at the beach) But the best part of it was today when we had free time.

Tessellation Art

Over the past few days we have been learning about tessellation art. Tessellation art is created by starting of with a shape like a square or a triangle. You then have to either rotate the shape (turn it around), translate it (move it across) or you can reflect the shape (flip it). once you have done one of these procedures or all of them you can colour them in. By making a pattern with your shape you can create an illusion and it can look really cool.

Power Community Visit!

Today we had our next session of the Power Community Youth Group. Today the focus was on smoking. We learnt about what’s in cigarettes, what they do to you, whats in them and much more. We had four guests come in and they were Wade Thompson, Moronia Gerrard, Matt Thomas and Jonathan Giles. We all our booklets out and learnt some information about cigarettes. We learnt lots of really interesting facts like a smoker spends over $10 000 on cigarettes in ten years and lots of really dangerous chemicals are put in like, Ammonia used in cleaning agents, Arsenic found in Rat poison, Methanol used for rocket fuel and many more dangerous chemicals.

This session was really informative and it has helped us learn alot of information that will help us later in life.

My Inquiry Assignment Reflection

I think I did quite well on this assignment because I chose the right quote for me. I had 1 challenge and that was explaining the quote, but eventually I got it right and i think it was quite good. So I believe I did a good job with my Inquiry Assignment.
